On a cold winter day, she was born in the city of Shanghai. It was snowing, and snowing, as if it would never come to an end. Her dad, looking out of the window, absorbed in his thoughts. It rarely snows here, must be a meaning hidden in the magic of this beautiful moment, so he thought.
Dad gave her the name Snow, a celebration of the arrival of his little girl. But there was something he didn’t know, his little girl has a dreamy soul.
Her soul, like the snow flying lightly, hither and thither, is wandering around in the woods, floating on the lakes, and then resting on the trees. It never settles down.
Dad’s hair has turned grey, his face full of deep lines. The meaning of it, he sighs, the meaning of snow falling on that beautiful day. He nods to himself, a smile appears on his face, so faint, so gentle.
With love,
Isabelle ❤️
Photos of winter landscape taken during her morning jog on 24 November, the day before her birthday, in the woods not far from her home, in Oslo, Norway.
Snow surprises and delights the dreamers who see it. Happy Birthday! 🙂

Thank you Andrew. I was drafting another post but got stuck. This one popped up, as a reflection of the light snow falling on yesterday morning and some images of my dear father, who I had dinner with last evening. The Thursday post didn’t arrive, I had been waiting. Have a good week.

Tha nk you Isabelle. Do you mean my Thursday post?
It was Thanksgiving here. I volunteered to feed the homeless that day at a locl church. Afterwards, I was in an Uber that had a small accident. I am fine, but have a very sore neck.
Resting and relaxing. I will post something tomorrow.
Glad to know you are well.

You have a very beautiful soul Andrew. You did such meaningful thing on that day, yes Thanksgiving. What could be more Thanksgiving than what you did? I too do some volunteer work on Wednesdays by teaching refugees English. It’s good to hear that you’re fine after the accident. Hope your neck will be fine soon. Do take care. I look forward to the Monday post.

Thanks so much for the birthday greeting, Bernice! Those two were taken during my jog. Very few people were there, the skies had a strange greyish colour, which made the photos look almost black and white. 😊🌸

Is this an autobiographical piece? It captures dreaminess, restlessness really well. I like it a lot.
I’m about to head upstairs for an hour of TV viewing before hitting the sack. Bye for now.

Many many happy returns of the day Isabelle 😘. Beautifully weaved post. Hope snow finds strength in the fact that despite being light and fragile it covers everything and changes the whole landscape into itself and even the sun gets weaker and couldn’t melt it. Lakes, land, trees all snow and one colour of peace. It’s -8 degrees here with thin layer of snow. Sun sets by 3 pm and day’s end early it’s same for Oslo. Stay warm indoors with books and hot chocolate. Much love 💕

Thanks so much for the lovely comment cherry. 💜 Loved reflections your made on the nature of snow. I haven’t thought about it, and you’re so right. Despite its lightness and fragility, snow does have its special strength. It transforms the whole landscape to a white fairy tale, a wonderland. Your description of the weather condition in Stockholm fits well in here too, pretty dry but freezing cold. Great to have a chat! Take care cherry. 😊😘🌸

I love your dreamy prose, but what complements this piece is the dreamy landscape you keep bringing to us. Your home (both Shanghai and Oslo) is heavenly.
Are you a writer by profession?

Thanks so much for taking time to read and write Jolene! The winter is long and cold here, especially for someone who isn’t really a winter person (me). But the winter landscape is beautiful in Norway, like a white fairytale. I just completed my masters in English language and will be working in a rhetoric/communication firm, doing some text/discourse analysis and writing/editing. I do pursue a writing career in the long term. Worked in finance/accounting for 13 years, time for a change. Have a good week! 😊

Yes I can totally imagine how beautiful it must be in the depth of winter in Norway…
What a coincidence – I’m currently working in finance, but real passion would be English literature. Would love to hear how your writing career goes, it’s a dream to pursue one’s passions and waking up with a lust for life. Same to you, and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

I look at us writers as being painters. If we’ve written something truly good, it brings images to our minds – we see it, we don’t just read it. You painted a great portrait here 🙂

You said it beautifully! Writing is a form of art, and I can see many similarities between painting and writing. The expressiveness of both forms. The choice of being explicit or implicit. The tendency of being multi-interpretational. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts with me 😊
